Fundamentals of Cyber Security is a non-technical, theory based overview of the cyber security discipline. This module defines cyber security, in the context of various different cyber threats we face in our digital landscape. We will look at the foundational pillars of what security professionals strive to achieve to protect data and systems.
The first module examines the various different employment domains within this burgeoning field. It concludes by identifying key cyber security job titles which will give you an understanding of the various employment opportunities available.
The second module highlights the notion of Governance, Risk and Compliance (The GRC Framework) in relation to an organisations security objectives. A basic understanding of GRC will empower you to communicate effectively between non-technical and technical departments. We will delve into the structure of corporate enterprises in relation to the cyber security division. We will introduce the objectives of different roles within a security team and highlight how each division cooperates to foster a culture of security.
The final module will highlight the importance of establishing a security mindset and the steps involved in creating a culture of security. We will look at different threat models used for risk analysis including the STRIDE and OWASP methodologies.
